Cost: $1,675 Trip FULL
Leader: Brig. Gen. Joe Lax - Medical Director: Dr. Chandler Todd
This is our fifth trip to this nation. We will fly from Greenville-Spartanburg to Atlanta to Belize City where we will be met by our host Dr. Edwin Leon. After the usual immigration and customs check we will load our vehicles and travel to the town of Corozal. Lodging will be in one of the local hotels. Each day the team will travel to a different village to provide medical care to the people. In this region of Belize that we are traveling to we will see people of Creole, Mayan and Hispanic decent, some of whom speak English. Since Belize is a small country of less than 400,000 population, we expect to see between 150 and 300 patients per day. After clinic each day we will return to our lodging for supper, a time of sharing and devotions, and a nights rest.
The team will be made up of 10-15 team members. On Sunday, 22 October, we will drive back to Belize City to catch our flight back to Atlanta. This is a good trip for first-timers, since basic comforts will be provided. However, we do expect everyone to contribute to the effort with prayer, hard work, flexibility and a positive attitude. We will provide additional trip information as we get closer to the departure date. We would encourage all that are going, to please comply with the dates that VIMM has established for returning your application and the dates for payments.
We look forward to meeting all of you and to a very successful work for the Lord! Retired Brigadier General Joe Lax of Greenwood, South Carolina, has served on 28 VIMM trips to Honduras, 1 to Panama, 4 to Belize, and 2 to North Africa since 1998.
